Hall of Fame Welcomes New Members

We are thrilled to announce the newest members of the Menlo School Athletic Hall of Fame! Anthony Holt '82 and Anne-Marie Keenan Napolitano '97 were inducted at the Homecoming Barbeque on October 13, 2007 at noon on the Upper School quad. Nearly 200 alumni, family, faculty and friends were there to cheer them on as they accepted this prestigious award in recognition of their athletic talents and achievements. In addition, all current Hall of Fame members in attendance were introduced, which was a very moving tribute to the athleticism of Menlo School over the years.

A high scoring forward for the basketball team, Anthony Holt as a junior was named to the All-South Peninsula Athletic League first team and first team All-County by the San Mateo Times. Holt was the league’s Most Valuable Player as a senior and again earned all-County honors. He went on to Sacramento State where he started as a freshman for the Hornets. Holt transferred to Foothill College for his sophomore season and was among the top scorers in the Golden Gate Conference with a 19 point per game average. Holt finished his career at UC, Riverside where he was named to all conference teams in his final two years. Holt helped Riverside to a No. 10 ranking among all Division II teams and to a CCAA co-championship.

In her three years playing varsity water polo at Menlo, Anne-Marie Keenan Napolitano lost only one game. As captain, she led her team to an undefeated CCS championship in 1997 and another CCS title in 1998, finishing twice as first team All-CCS. Anne-Marie was top scorer and All-American swimmer and water polo player.

But this was only the beginning. Following Menlo, Anne-Marie was a three time All-American at Stanford, three time academic All-American, serving twice as team captain for the Cardinal. Anne-Marie was also a member of the US national team and continued her playing career in Italy before working as an assistant coach at Stanford. She is now Head Coach of the boys’ team at Gunn High School in Palo Alto.

We are thrilled to have added such accomplished athletes to our Hall of Fame roster. Congratulations, Anthony and Anne-Marie!
