In addition, the pdf documents on the right entitled Menlo School Identity Guidelines provide highly detailed information about required fonts, colors and other intricacies of our Identity System. A few words about why these guidelines are important:
Graphic guidelines are the rules and regulations for using the Menlo Seal, Signature and other approved graphic identity elements for communications, both printed and electronic. This means that publications such as brochures, booklets, posters, invitations; electronic communications such as e-newsletters and websites, as well as athletic apparel, gift items, and banners have standards that must be followed. Graphic standards are necessary to strengthen Menlo’s brand identity, so that all communications vehicles from Menlo School, including apparel, consistently look as if they’re coming from Menlo and not somewhere else. We also create a distinctive look that is specific to Menlo, so that all of our various constituent groups (students, parents, prospective students, alumni, donors, faculty, and staff) can easily distinguish Menlo and what it represents.
Graphics Terms
The Menlo School’ “Seal” is the Menlo School Tree combined with the words “Menlo School 1915”, surrounded by the Golden Ring. Menlo’s “Signature” refers to the Tree surrounded by the Golden Ring with the words “Menlo School” outside the Ring. The Signature can appear in a variety of prescribed configurations. There are also variations of these two identities with an “M” inside the ring, that are used by the Athletic Department on uniforms and other athletic equipment. In fact, each department within the School community has been given the opportunity to create its own unique look within certain guidelines.
Consistent reproduction of these symbols is essential. They must always be reproduced from the original design, and must never be redrawn, revised or altered. If you need to resize the Seal or Signature to fit your project, the proportions must be the same as the original version (i.e., do not stretch it). JPG files can only be reduced. Enlarging a JPG file will result in a poor quality image.
NOTE:
- Fonts: Official Menlo fonts are Minion and Myriad
- School Colors: Refer to the palette of official school colors that are posted on this site and give them first consideration when planning your project.
