CCS girls’ tennis: Knights bound for semis

Knights players celebrate Andra Braicu's win at No. 1 singles.

Thursday’s CCS tennis match had all the drama of a final when the WBAL champion Menlo girls’ tennis team defeated WCAL champion St. Francis 4-3 at home.
Players from both schools sit along the sideline on both sides of the court at No.1 singles. Menlo junior Andra Braicu patiently wore down Emily Tan 6-4, 6-1 and decided the match.

Earlier Kate Hsia and Sophia Jia had just won in a tiebreaker at No.2 doubles to draw to a tie. Freshman Emily Li had won at No. 3 and junior Izzy Klugman at No. 4 singles.

The No.3 Knights improved to 19-8 and will play No. 2 Los Altos at 10am Saturday at Lynbrook. Evergreen Valley plays top seed Monta Vista in the other semifinal.
