About the Team
The Menlo boys’ basketball program has re-established the tradition of success it began in the 1980s. After winning the league title, the 2017 Knights brought home the Central Coast Section championship—its first since 2013 and its eighth in school history. Menlo then advanced to the second round of NorCals. Beginning with an 18-win season in the 2004 season, highlighted by the Peninsula Athletic League North Championship and a trip to the CCS Div. IV playoffs, the team went on to win five consecutive league titles, each with 20-victory seasons in 2005-2009. The Knights captured CCS championships in 2008, 2009, and 2013, advancing to the CIF state NorCal quarterfinals in each of those seasons. In 2014, Menlo advanced to the CCS Div. IV championship.
About the Coach
Keith Larsen (fourth season)
Larsen, a former Stanford men’s basketball
assistant coach, brings a wealth of experience in the high school and collegiate ranks in his return to the Peninsula.
Larsen spent many years coaching high school basketball - as well as volleyball, softball, track and field, golf and nearly every sport. He was tapped to join the Stanford staff in 1992 under coach Mike Montgomery. After five years on The Farm, he became the athletic director, basketball and golf coach at Menlo College where he directed the Oaks to two berths in the NAIA Basketball Tournament. Following his tenure at Menlo College, Larsen coached the Cal State Stanislaus men’s team.
Most recently, Larsen coached the girls’ team at Pitman High in Turlock, and before his collegiate turn, had led teams at Woodside and Mills.
