About the Team
The Menlo boys’ soccer program ushered in a new chapter in its history in 2012-2013, landing the school’s first CCS championship. The Knights compiled a 43-12-9 mark in league competition in the past five seasons. In 2015-2016, Menlo knocked off the top seed in the first round of the CCS Championships, ultimately losing 1-0 in the semifinals to the eventual champions. The Knights returned to the CCS semifinals in 2017 after compiling a 9-0-3 West Bay Athletic League record and its first league title in 15 years.
About the Coach
Marc Kerrest (fifth season)
Kerrest took the reins of the boys’ soccer program in the 2012-2013 season and quickly laid the groundwork for a team that continues to finish among the leaders in league and in the classroom. Kerrest grew up playing soccer in Saint Germain en Laye outside Paris and at the College Preparatory School in Oakland. He earned a degree in economics from Tufts University, where he played outside back for the soccer team. He then served as assistant coach for the Tufts varsity team for two seasons. Kerrest holds the Advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA.
Kerrest has played for Bay Oaks Premier; for SF Celtic in the SFSFL Premier Division; and, more recently, while living in New York City, he played for Hoboken FC. He holds D and C badges from the NSCAA.
He strongly believes that a team with good tactical understanding and a high fitness level can beat a more technically skilled team. Kerrest teaches a possession, driven attack-minded approach to soccer, always emphasizing the success of the team as a whole.
