About the Team
The Menlo girls’ golf team plays in the powerful West Bay Athletic League which claimed two teams in the top five in the Central Coast Section playoffs.
The Knights are coming off a 6-2 season, and took third at the leach championship match. Menlo consistently sends players to the Central Coast Section Championships.
Menlo placed in the top five at the section championships, including fourth place in 2015 and fifth place in 2014. The Knights hold a 23-3 West Bay Athletic League the past two seasons. In 2018, they captured a league championship, as well as won a third consecutive league tournament. Menlo players have qualified for the CCS competition the past 10 seasons, including 2018 when the team finished sixth overall.
The Coach
Mark Madayag (Second Season)
Madayag is a golf pro and has organized several development programs. He coached the junior league program for seven consecutive winning seasons as a golf pro at the Palo Alto Golf Course. He has been a Class A member of the PGA of America since 1998, and is also a certified coach and mentor for the First Tee Silicon Valley Chapter. He has been coaching the PGA Junior League team in Palo Alto since 2014 and has won two championships. His teaching style is described as a blend of the latest game - improvement techniques which can help improve any golfer. Early in his career, he was a golf pro and assistant manager at Harding Park Golf Course.
