Working with Dynamic Content
“Content management” and “Web page editing” aren’t the same thing. The fact is, everything on your Web site is content, and a CMS ought to be a place to manage all of it. LiveWhale users manage and share news stories, events, images, photo galleries, downloadable files, Web forms, tags, and more.
All of LiveWhale’s modules work together closely. The built-in search feature can find any kind of content by keyword, and is useful for locating your own stories as well as things that have been shared in the LiveWhale community.
Because the system is designed to encourage communication among your CMS user community, it’s easy to use tagging and sharing to create some truly exciting front end Web content. Imagine creating a tag for use on graduation day, and having everyone on campus tag their content accordingly— and aggregating those stories, along with feeds from sites like Twitter and Flickr, to create a living and constantly changing Commencement page. LiveWhale makes this work— which is also “content management”— easy.
Float Content to the Top
Usually content being sorted by date with the newest items first makes sense, but sometimes there’s that one story that needs to be on the top. Where some systems you might fudge the date to keep a piece of content on top, or mark a checkbox to make the content “sticky,” with LiveWhale you add balloons.
Need to have a couple of things at the top in a specific order? Add and pop balloons until the order is right.
