College, took a break from reading thousands of applications to join the Menlo community and share their wisdom about applying to college. The program was moderated by Matt Mettille, Menlo’s Director of College Counseling.
Formerly referred to as “Junior Kick O ,” the program was restructured and launched this year as First Read: A Conversation with Admissions Experts. Well attended by parents and students alike, the event featured discussion of questions
that were submitted in advance, which Mettille curated to cover the broadest scope of topics in the 60-minute time frame.

In response to an
audience question about what colleges are really looking for in applicants, Jim Nondorf took the

How do you get to know applicants with so many applications?
“The college search process is fundamentally about students. As admissions o cers, we believe that every student should know how to
