     From the Director
The Upper School’s student life theme for the year is “Presence, Purpose, and Perspective,” which I think is particularly relevant to the upcoming college admissions process. I hope the class of 2020 will remain present. This is such an exciting year and collectively the senior class is spectacular. There are so many fun events and traditions to look forward to—enjoy them and experience everything being a senior is meant to be. In 10
years, I can assure you that you’ll remember the impromptu trip to the beach much more than you will recall the seventh draft of a supplemental essay. I hope you all view the purpose of the college admissions process
in a transformational way instead of a transactional way. The purpose is
to learn about yourself on this journey and reflect on what will really be important to you for the next four years, which has nothing to do with an admit rate. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, we constantly remind students to have perspective. It does work out and there are hundreds of amazing colleges and universities for you to attend next year. It’s an honor to guide you through this process and help you find a college that matches your values, your personality, and your goals where you can be engaged and offered a transformational college experience. Welcome back from College Counseling.
