Menlo’s Center of Campus Plans Get City Approval

At its September meeting, the Atherton Town Council officially granted Menlo School a conditional use permit for our proposed Center of Campus plans.

This project, when completed, will transform the campus with a new dining facility, an expanded library and revitalized student life area, and a new technology center. It will infuse new energy into the center of our campus and offer a richer experience for all of our students. These centrally located spaces will enable us to maximize lunchtime, provide safer and more inclusive spaces, and serve as hub for interactive and inter-disciplinary learning throughout the day.

To help give shape to our vision, the School has engaged Kevin Hart—architect of many of Menlo’s recent projects, including the Athletic Center and Creative Arts and Design Center—to helm the effort as the lead designer, working in partnership with Korth Sunseri Hagey Architects (KSH Architects). Aiding Mr. Hart in the visioning of these new spaces are students in Ms. Brigham’s 7th Grade Class, Mr. Allard’s upper school design course, student government, as well as groups of faculty and staff.

This is a transformative time for Menlo School that will help launch us into our next century and deepen the Menlo experience for our students, faculty, and families.
