Construction Updates August 2016

Welcome back to Menlo. We launched the center of campus project this summer. Here’s an update from August.

Structural modifications of Stent Family Hall continue this week. Concrete is being poured at the lower level and the fireproofing work has moved from the basement to the second floor. The piping for the new Technology Center will continue with underground utility work to connect the new building to existing utilities on site.

If you’re wondering where to find the library, MMR, and the student life offices, then check out this article by the Coat of Arms and this drone video.

Construction officially began this summer and is continuing at a solid pace. The portables are in place and are nearly complete—now it’s up to our staff and faculty to make the spaces their own. We’ve also reconfigured the loop to be a temporary parking lot to make up the spaces taken up by the portables. While this may add some congestion to the loop during peak travel times, it ensures we have the same number of spaces as before. The process of rebuilding the columns and structure under the original Stent mansion is ongoing; the floor will be lowered to accommodate a new kitchen and serving location where the “stacks” used to be. The fireproofing for the building has also started, and this messy (but thankfully, not too noisy) process will go on for a couple of weeks. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the campus.
