Boys’ basketball opens league play with win

Knights defeat Priory

In its West Bay Athletic League opener, the Menlo boys’ basketball team picked up a 50-38 victory Tuesday at Woodside Priory. 

The Knights (4-4) pulled away with a 19-6 third quarter to top the Gryphons. 

Menlo’s Riley Woodson posted 16 points, 11 rebounds, and fellow junior Thomas Brown added 16 points and five rebounds.

Hayden Pegley and JH Tevis each had three steals for the Knights.

Menlo next plays at Eastside Prep at 6:00 pm on Friday.

Freshman basketball

Menlo earned its second straight road victory with a 64-27 win over Half Moon Bay. The Knights got points from nine different players, led by Diego Cardon’s 18 points. Jaden Richardson chipped in 13 and Miles Hester added 11. A day earlier, Menlo earned a road victory, 60-36 against Mountain View. The Knights were led by Cardon’s 13 points and Hester chipped in with 10 points.
