Construction Updates February 2017

February news and updates about Menlo’s center of campus construction project.

February 27

Campus construction reached an important milestone during last week’s winter break: the interior slab was completed for the first-floor expansion of Stent Family Hall and the new dining room. Now, the preparation for structural steel installation has begun. Other ongoing projects for the Stent kitchen include work on the fire sprinkler pipe as well as the installation of metal stud framing, mechanical duct, plumbing pipe, and electrical conduit. There will also be some demolition of exterior roofing this week. At the Technology Center, the vertical rebar install and preparation for shotcrete continues. There will also be an exterior wall demo for the Creative Arts & Design Center, which will be somewhat noisy and occur starting on March 1 until March 3.

In Stent Family Hall, the formwork installation for the first floor continues as does the underground plumbing and electrical installations and crushed rock installation for slab on grade. At the back of the building, ongoing work includes the metal stud framing installation, steel support installation for kitchen hoods, and the installation of mechanical duct, plumbing pipe, and electrical conduit. At the Technology Center site, the vertical waterproofing installation is ongoing as is the formwork installation for the top of the concrete wall.

Work continues at Stent Family Hall, including the anchor bolt set up, the concrete pour for footings, the formwork for the on-grade slab, and the below-grade plumbing pipe and electrical installation. In the back of Stent, ongoing work includes the metal stud framing and steel support installation for kitchen hoods, mechanical duct installation, and plumbing pipe and electrical conduit installation. At the Technology Center, the removal of temporary shoring braces and other activity will involve the use of torches, crane, and trucks to haul off material.
