Seventh grade Spanish students experienced our new teaching kitchen this week. As part of their study of food, restaurant etiquette, and dishes from Spanish speaking countries, the classes worked with Chef Mark and Dining Director Michael Sheets in a lesson on making pupusas, a popular dish in El Salvador.

Chef Mark showed students how to roll and stuff a pupusa. The kids proceeded to stations that were set up with masa, cooked pork, beans, and queso fresco, and made about 6 pupusas that were then cooked on the griddle and finished in the oven. The Flik team served them with house-made sofrito and a traditional curtido. The kids enjoyed them together! Here’s a little video of the experience.
