Raising Funds for Fire Victims

Students in the Middle and Upper School joined forces to raise nearly $15,000 to support families impacted by recent fires in Paradise, CA.
Messages of support for those impacted by California wild fires.

Through coin drives, the Middle School student government-led efforts to raise $2,000, while the Upper School raised $2,300 in a 30-minute giving campaign. In a similar vein, two of our athletics programs raised money for fire victims through a Middle and Upper School basketball shoot-a-thon that generated over $6,000, and a symbolic “run” (on treadmills) of 200 miles—the distance to Paradise—by our cross country runners raised another $5,000. In addition to financial support, students decorated a wall in the student center with notes of support.

“We are blessed by the care and empathy our students feel,” says Head of School Than Healy. “These efforts reinforce to me that the promise we make in the Menlo Mission to develop in our students a commitment to purposes larger than themselves is alive and well in all aspects of our program.”
