WCAL: Boys’ lacrosse falls to power St. Ignatius

The Knights closed out the season against St. Ignatius, considered one of the top teams in the state.

The Menlo boys’ lacrosse team closed a fight-to-the-finish season with a 12-7 loss to host St.Ignatius in the West Catholic Athletic League semifinals Wednesday.

The Knights pulled to a halftime 3-3 tie, but the top seeded Wildcats used a 3-0 third quarter to pull ahead.
Sophomore Theo Kim had another outstanding outing wth 16 saves, and junior Brendan Murphy won 13 of 21 face-offs.
Henry Wernikoff had two of his three goals in the first half and fellow junior Samson Axe had two goals and three assists. Seniors Conor McCusker and Sam Fortenbaugh shared the team lead with four ground balls apiece.
