CCS: Five track athletes in 7 events head to finals

After the CCS trials, five athletes in seven events will be moving on to the CCS finals Friday night, back at Gilroy High.
In the 800, Menlo juniors Charlotte Tomkinson and Kyra Pretre took second (2:16.10) and third (2:16.33), respectively. Pretre was second in the 1600 in 5:06.64.
Tomkinson raced the difficult 400 and 800 double, and also took second in the 400, finishing in 57.10. Junior Michelle Louie was eighth in 58.73, also qualifying for the 400 finals. Louie was seventh in the 200 and qualified with her time of 26.00.
Senior Alexandra Chan placed fourth in the 100 hurdles (14.97) and eighth in the 300 hurdles (47.05) to advance to Friday’s finals in both. She was 15th in the 200.
Senior Lauren Hamilton will join Louie, Pretre and Tomkinson in the 4x400 final after taking second in 4:01.28.
Also in the CCS qualifier, Hamilton was 10th in the 100 in 12.88, and sophomore Kamran Murray was 16th in the boys’ 3200 in 9:53.65. Ayinde Olukotun, a junior, placed 22nd in the boys’ 400 in 51.48 and 23rd in the 200 in 23.07. The girls’ 4x100 of Charlotte Lee, Tomkinson, Lauren Hamilton and Louie, finished 18th.
