Football rolls 65-0 in opener

In its opener, Menlo School football rolled to a 65-0 non-league victory over Fremont-Oakland on Saturday afternoon at home.
The Knights jumped out of the blocks when Justin Sellers found fellow senior Jaden Richardson for a 29-yard touchdown pass just over three minutes into the game.
Sophomore Tyler Flynn flew downfield and caught Fremont for a 4-yard loss on the kickoff return and the defense forced a punt. Menlo’s Samson Axe rumbled for a 17-yard TD run on the ensuing possesion. Richardson’s kickoff return and a penalty put the Knights well into Tigers’ territory and junior Chris d’Alencon scored on a pass from Sellers. Senior Ryan McKee would score on back-to-back TD runs and Flynn closed the half with a long TD pass from senior Kevin Alarcon.
Senior Miles Hester in his Menlo debut opened the second half, scooping up a fumble and running in for a score.
Juniors Sam Chung and J.P. McKenney added rushing TDS and senior Santi Garcia-Mendez closed the game with a field goal after converting eight PATs
