Football falls to Piedmont

On the road, Menlo football dropped a 31-6 non-league decision to Piedmont on Friday.

The Knights (1-1) and Highlanders were deadlocked after one quarter, which included six penalties. Piedmont got on the board after recovering a fumble at the 12. Brian Cain then scored his first of two touchdowns for Piedmont.
The Knights forced and recovered a fumble to start the fourth, and ended the quarter on junior Samson Axe’s 28-yard run with just over two minutes left. Axe opened the possession with a 26-yard run to get the Knights to the 46. Menlo marched up the field on runs by Axe, quarterback Justin Sellers, and Ryan McKee to get to the 28.

Menlo next plays host to Santa Clara at 3:15 pm on Friday, Sept.13.
