Girls finish first, boys take second at WBAL cross country

Tomkinson, K. Pretre, Katz, Murray all place top 3

The Knights boys and girls celebrated an outstanding showing at WBAL meet No. 1

 

10.10.2019 – In the first West Bay Athletic League meet, the Menlo cross country teams powered to the finish line at Hallmark Park-Crystal Springs on Thursday. The girls took first and the boys took second in an impressive showing.
All seven varsity girls runners placed in the top 16 and won by more than 44 points. Castilleja was second with 70 and The King’s Academy third with 102. Seniors Charlotte Tomkinson was second in 18:10.0 and Kyra Pretre took third in 18:12.2 - both personal-bests on the 2,95-mile course. Junior Marisa Castagna was fifth in 18:50.0, also a a PR.
Seniors Cameron Boom was seventh in 19:00.6 and Amanda Foster was ninth in 19:09.2 and Katie Aufricht was 10th in 19:10.4. Sophomore Pia Gallo took 16th for Menlo in 20:51.1.
In the varsity boys’ race, the Knights took second with 52 points.Crystal Springs was first with 42 and Woodside Priory third in 67.
Menlo juniors Calvin Katz was second in 16:05.3 and Kamran Murray third in 16:06.0. In his first league race, freshman Justin Pretre was seventh in 16:50.0. Senior Jackson Aldrich was 11th in 17:19.8. Senior Luke Virsik ran in 18:39.9, junior Luis Mendoza in 18:49.8 amd senior Brandon Aprill in 18:51.0 for the Knights.
