Volleyball takes second in WBAL

10.24.2019 – After closing the regular season with a win Thursday night, the Menlo junior Roxy Karrer recorded 12 kills with a .556 hitting percentage Menlo junior Roxy Karrer recorded 12 kills with a .556 hitting percentageMenlo volleyball team secured second place West Bay Athletic League, and awaits its postseason matchup.
The Knights defeated host Mercy-San Francisco 25-8, 25-16, 25-12 to finish the season with an 8-4 record, tied with Harker and Sacred Heart Prep. Menlo split the season series with both teams, but holds the games tiebreaker against Harker and points tiebreaker over Sacred Heart Prep. The CCS seeding meeting is Oct. 31, and CCS opens play Nov. 2.
Junior Roxy Karrer had 12 kills and sophomore Sharon Nejad added 10 to lead the Knights’ attack. . Freshman Havannah Hoeft and sophomores Zoe Gregory and Hanna Hoffman combined for 42 assists. Senior Emma Holland had nine digs, and Hoffman added six digs and four aces.

 

Menlo 3, Notre Dame-S.J. 0

10.22.2019 – The Menlo volleyball team defeated Notre Dame-San Jose 25-20, 25-22, 25-21 in a WBAL match on the road Tuesday. 

Sophomore Hanna Hoffman landed eight aces, and added six kills, 14 assists and nine digs. Junior Roxy Karrer and sophomore Sharon Nejad each had eight kills. Freshman Havannah Hoeft converted had six kills with a .667 hitting percentage and added 10 assists. 

The Knights move to 7-4 in league and 17-12 overall and close out the regular season with a match at Mercy-San Francisco. Menlo goes into Thursday’s match tied with Harker for third behind Notre Dame-Belmont (11-0) and Sacred Heart Prep (8-3).
