Jason Yotopoulos ’87 has stepped in as CEO of Emerald Gate, an impact fund focused on frontier science research to seed new commercial applications. He remains on the board of directors of Mach49, the company he co-founded, and has stepped down as president, a role he held for the past five years.

Joe Della Santina '88 starts a skeleton run in Whistler, B.C. In March, Joe Della Santina ’88 (pictured) competed for New Zealand in skeleton at the International Bobsled and Skeleton Federation World Championships in Whistler, British Columbia. Joe has been competing in skeleton for two seasons after several seasons piloting bobsled teams for New Zealand.

Elizabeth Bales-Stutes ’89 has been teaching English as a Second Language to adults for the past 15 years, for the first 13 years at Palo Alto Adult School and now at South SF Adult Ed. She’s now helping develop a new course for college-bound students and those who want to get into the workforce. She adds that her husband, Hardi, works for a logistics company in Oakland.

Jesse Draper ’02 was named to Marie Claire’s New Guard list of 50 influential women. The publication cited Jesse’s work backing female-founded companies with the firm she founded, Halogen Ventures.

Scott Harris ’05 was named General Manager of the San Francisco Giants. Scott had been an assistant general manager for the Chicago Cubs since 2018, and was the Cubs’ director of baseball operations the five seasons prior.

Connor Douglass ’08 married Abbey Davis in Sacramento on July 20, 2019. The wedding party included best man Steve Urban ’08, groomsman Troy Wickett ’08, bridesmaid Alexandra Douglass ’12, and bridesmaid Caroline Douglass ’18. Connor is the son of Mark Douglass ’77 and the grandson of Duke Douglass ’43, whose childhood family home was the mansion on Menlo’s campus.

In a meeting at the College Counseling office, Emilio Simbeck ’18 (pictured) gave a presentation to students about the Naval Academy and answered questions about his experience at the school, where he’s now a sophomore. Emilio spoke about the curriculum, school culture, and military commitment, among other topics.

Elise Thompson ’19 tells us she’s absolutely loving her time at Bryn Mawr college in Pennsylvania. She has been published in the college literary magazine, Nimbus, and performed as Guildenstern in Hamlet.
