News and notes shared by Menlo alumni near and far
Fourteen Menlo alumni returned to campus to participate on alumni panels on January 9, 2020, providing insight from their experiences in college athletics, college arts programs, and taking a gap year. Among many other pieces of advice, the student-athletes shared how they marketed themselves to potential coaches, arts students explained how they’ve been exposed to many different ways they can fashion careers in the arts they hadn’t previously imagined, and those who have taken a gap year spoke frankly about confronting their fears of trying something different from many of their peers who had gone straight to college from Menlo. Peter Johanson ’57 tells us he’s happy to be in great health and lives in Central Mexico along the shores of Lake Chapala nine months per year.
Len Edwards ’59 noted that he and his son, Erik Edwards ’93, were the most senior participants in Menlo’s Alumni Basketball Game against the Boys’ Varsity team in November.
Jaye Boissiere ’14 has signed a contract to play for the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League. Jaye most recently played for La Havre in the French professional soccer system.
John D. Wilson ’14, currently an assistant water polo coach at Johns Hopkins, was named to the school’s all-decade team. He was a three-time college All-American as a goalie.
Kira Sze ’16 (front, center) performed at Menlo along with the Mixed Company of Yale a capella group.
Amrita Misha ’17 (pictured with Upper School Chorus instructor Karen Linford) returned to Menlo in December with the Dartmouth Dodecaphonics a capella group. They performed several songs in front of a large crowd on the Upper School’s Student Center patio, and Amrita sang as soloist on their rendition of the Bradly Cooper and Lady Gaga duet, “Shallow.”
