Girls’ soccer beats SHP, picks up 2 more wins

Week of 1.20-1.25.2020

1.25.2020 – In a Saturday game against The Bishop’s of La Jolla, the Menlo girls’ soccer team won 1-0 at home.

Against The Bishop’s, junior Claire Pickering scored the winning goal in the second half. She also capped her birthday match with a game-saving tackle with  8 minutes left. 

Menlo 2, Mercy-Burlingame 1

The Menlo girls’ soccer team recorded its sixth league victory in a row, defeating Mercy-Burlingame 2-1 at Skyline College on Thursday.
The Knights (6-3-4 overall, 6-0 West Bay Athletic League) scored a goal in each half against Mercy. Freshman Colby Wilson took a pass from senior Carly Retterer to score in the first half, then Retterer dealt the second-half winner.

Menlo 2, Sacred Heart Prep 1

1.21.2020 – The Menlo girls’ soccer team delivered a 2-1 victory over visiting Sacred Heart Prep in a West Bay Athletic League match Tuesday.
After winning five consecutive, the Knights move to 5-3-3 and sit atop the league, with Notre Dame-Belmont, at 3-0-0. Menlo next plays at Mercy-Burlingame at 2:45 pm Friday.
Senior Carly Retterer struck first for the Knights with a goal on an assist from junior Gabby Kogler in the opening minutes.
Sacred Heart Prep’s Megan Tinsley tied the score off a rebound, and the teams went into halftime tied at 1.
With 15 minutes left, freshman Tabitha Corcoran heads in the eventual winner off a corner from senior Sidney Peña.
