Boys’ soccer dominates on Senior Day, ties Harker

Menlo senior Adam Kasser had a first-half shutout and scored a goal in a WBAL win over Eastside on Wednesday.

Menlo boys’ soccer broke a tie on junior Christian Corcoran’s penalty kick midway through the first half and held on for a 1-1 tie at Harker on Friday.
Fighting for the second CCS automatic qualifier bid, the Knights (8-2-1, 25 points) stay ahead of the Eagles (7-2-2, 23 points) with one game remaining: Menlo plays Crystal Springs and Harker plays The King’s Academy on Tuesday. SHP is the champion with 34 points.
In Friday’s game at home,Harker scored right before halftime,but Menlo held on. Senior Adam Kasser made several crucial saves to preserve the tie with fellow seniors Xander Stabile, Kripa Dharan and Alex Morgan playing inspired defense in front of him.
“We have talked a lot this season about doing what is best for the team, and putting in extra work to help our teammates,” Menlo coach Marc Kerrest said. T”he boys showed a great mindset against a very good Harker team on the road.”
 

 

Menlo 13, Eastside 0

The Menlo boys’s soccer team moved into second place in the West Bay Athletic League race after defeating visiting Eastside 13-0 on Wednesday.
The Knights (8-2-0, 24 points) move ahead of Harker (7-2-1, 22 points), which lost to league champion Sacred Heart Prep on Wednesday. Menlo travels to Harker on Friday as both teams are fighting for the last CCS automatic qualifier spot and both have two league games remaining before the CCS seeding meeting.
Against Eastside, junior Christian Corcoran had a first-half hat trick and all six Menlo seniors - Jackson Aldrich, Adam Kasser, Aaron Morgan, Alex Morgan, Xander Stabile scored. Juniors Tor Micaelian, Jason Bloom and George Rogers, Steph Nivaggioli added goals.
Kasser also manned the goal in the first half before joining the field in the second and Corcoran took his place in goal for the second half.

The JV boys took the league title after finishing the season unbeaten at 9-0-1.
