CCS Open: Girls’ basketball loses in semifinals

In their third meeting of the season this time on the CCS Open stage, the Menlo girls’ basketball dropped a 58-33 decision to league foe Pinewood in Wednesday’s semifinals. 
The Knights (20-6) will await their matchup for NorCals, which begin Tuesday, March 3, after Sunday’s seeding meeting as Pinewood advances to the final Friday against Mitty .  Menlo junior guard Avery Lee had a team-high 14 points while sophomore Sharon Nejad scored 10 and had 13 rebounds, eight coming in the second half.The teams met first in WBAL play when Menlo broke Pinewood’s 66-league win streak, then the Panthers won the second match at their home.
