Two Knights sign national letters of intent

MacMitchell, Scafetta to pursue intercollegiate aquatics

11.11.2020 – Menlo School student-athletes Connor MacMitchell and Ashley Scafetta will pursue their academic and aquatics careers, signing national letters of intent Wednesday. MacMitchell is set to play water polo for UC-San Diego and Scafetta will swim for Boston University. Today is the first day of the signing period which runs through Aug. 1, 2021. Additionally, more than a dozen more Menlo senior student-athletes are set to play NCAA Div. I-III and NAIA intercollegiate sports, and will announce their commitments throughout the year as the admission process is complete.

Credit: Pam Tso McKenneyConnor MacMitchell (UC-San Diego water polo) – His senior season yet to take place, MacMitchell is a four-year letterwinner and coming off a junior season in which he amassed a career-best 70 goals. He also had 16 assists and 31 steals despite missing a few games due to injury. He was selected all-CCS Open Division second team, All American fourth team and all-West Catholic Athletic League second team and USA Water Polo Academic All-American. As a sophomore, MacMitchell was named all-CCS Open honorable mention and all-Peninsula Athletic League second team. He also swam two seasons for the Knights and was a USA Sectional Meet contender.

Credit: Pam Tso McKenneyAshley Scafetta (Boston University swimming) – In her varsity career so far, Scafetta is an all-WBAL selection and four-event CCS qualifier in both seasons. She competed at the section meet in the 200 free and 100 breast stroke as a freshman; the 500 free and 400 free relay as a sophomore, as well as 200 medley relay and 200 individual medley relay both years. The versatile swimmer qualified for USA Swimming Futures Championships and swam the USA Sectional Meet. She also raced distances on land. In cross country, she was a WBAL honorable mention as a freshman and competed on the girls 2018, 2019 WBAL and CCS champion teams.
