Girls’ water polo collects 3 WCAL wins

Menlo 9, Valley Christian 4

4.10.21 – Menlo girls’ water polo defeated Valley Christian 9-4 in West Catholic Athletic League play, getting contributions up and down the lineup Saturday.  

Sadie Stinson scored twice and had two steals Erica Fenyo had a goal, two assists and two steals for Menlo (5-2). Junior Rusha Bhat pitched in with two goals, an assist and a steal.

Kenya Cassidy had an assist, a steal and won two sprints. 

Nyla Sharma, a sophomore goalie, made five saves, and had a steal to lead the defense, along with freshman Kate Ward. 

 

Goals – Rusha Bhat 2, Malia Chavinson 2, Sadie Stinson 2, Erica Fenyo, Alisha Jain, Itzel Salgado Oseguera, Assists: Fenyo 2, Bhat, Cassidy, Sophia Crouse. 

 

Menlo 11, Presentation 9

4.9.2021 – Using a balanced attack, Menlo girls’ water polo beat Presentation in a WCAL match on the road. 

Menlo junior Alina Hernandez had an assist, steal and drew three ejections, and played outstanding 2-meter defense. Rusha Bhat poured in five goals and an assist while Erica Fenyo racked up four goals, and had a steal. 

Malia Chavinson scored, adding an assist, three drawn ejections and a steal for the Knights while Sadie Stinson scored and had two assists. Freshman Scarlett Gamble added a steal. 

 

Menlo 9, Mitty 3

4.5.21 - The Menlo girls’ water polo team defeated Mitty 9-3 in a WCAL game at home Tuesday.

Menlo sophomore Erica Fenyo led the way with five goals, four steals, and two drawn ejections. Junior Rusha Bhat contributed four goals and a steal while senior captain Sadie Stinson made three assists and a steal. Sophomore Nyla Sharma made 10 saves. Sophomore Malia Chavinson drew three ejections and junior Alina Hernandez two more.
