Boys’ golf hits a season-best 187

Days earlier, Knights beat Harker in 200, 209 thriller

5.13.2021 – On senior day, the Menlo boys’ golf team got big contributions from its seniors Thursday in a 187-225 victory against Crystal Springs at Baylands Golf Links.The Knights beat their previous mark they set on Monday by 12 shots in relation to par, and posted their best score of the season. Senior co-captain Troy Demmon played a pivotal role—his even-par 37 that included two birdies was his lowest score this season.The Knights celebrated seniors Dylan Bowers, Troy Demmon, Oliver Diner, Zak Taube, Cole Taylor, and Jeremy Yun.
Yun, a senior who is set to play at Princeton, shot a 35 as did freshman brother Eric, for medalist honors. Junior Marcus Ying continued his strong play with a 39, which was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 third. Ying hit the difficult green in two shots and settled for an easy two-putt birdie. Freshman Eric Yun posted three birdies against a lone bogey en route to signing for a 2-under 35, which earned him co-medalist honors.
On Monday, the Knights will face Sacred Heart Prep at Sharon Heights Country Club.

WBAL golf: Menlo 200, Harker 209 

In its closest match yet, the Menlo boys’ golf team defeated Harker 200-209 in West Bay Athletic play at Coyote Creek Golf Club on Friday afternoon.

Senior Jeremy Yun finished as medalist, shooting a 37 while brother Eric, a freshman, had a 38. Junior Marcus Ying carded a 41 while senior Troy Demmon and junior Ryan Shaefer carded 42s. Junior Saaz Ahuja shot a 46 for the Knights (4-0), who next play The King’s Academy on Monday.
