The Menlo School cross country teams launched their season at the Lowell Invitational at Golden Gate Park in San Franciso on Saturday.
The Knights came in 12th overall in the varsity boys race with Justin Pretre taking ninth among 174 runners and was the top junior in the race. Nik Khuntia placed 32nd and Aiden Deffner 44th, leading the way as Menlo’s top-three finishers.
The Knights girls came in second in the non-varsity race led by Grace Tang in seventh, Pia Gallo in eighth and Eden Chuang, who was the top freshman in the race, Alea Marks in 18th and Audrey Tsao in 37th and the third freshman finisher in the race.
The sophomore boys finished 13th led by Menlo’s top finishers Derrick Ho, Sam Engel and Colin Ho. After a tiebreaker, Menlo placed third in the Freshmen boys race. Landon Pretre placed fourth, William Hauser 10th and Jared Saal 11th.
