Strong finishes for cross country in Fresno

Boys take third; Justin Pretre, Landon Pretre 5th and 7th

The Menlo cross country teams trekked to Fresno for the Roughrider Invitational and the Knights boys team came away with a third-place finish Friday.
The Knights reached personal-bests and for some, their first run at Woodward Park, the site of the state championship meet.
Junior Justin Pretre was fifth overall among 234 runners in the Small Schools race, finishing in 16:31.6. Freshman Landon Pretre was seventh in 16:41.5 Junior Aiden Deffner took 16th in 17:27.8 and senior Nik Khuntia 18th in 17:29.9. Sophomore Alex Boesch crossed the finish 31st in 18:01.4 and freshman Will Hauser 53rd in 18:33.9.
Four Knights ran the Small School varsity race with senior Grace Tang the team’s top finisher in 32nd in 21:23.2. Freshmen Eden Chuang was 41st in 22:03.1, Audrey Tsao 48th in 22:22.9 and Ruiqi Liu in 25:24.9 in a field of 181 runners.
