Boys’ basketball 2-1 in Burlingame Tournament

Knights advance to consolation round final
Senior Daniel Solomon has 37 points in two games of the Burlingame Lions Tournament for the Knights

The Menlo boys’ basketball team took the consolation final in a tough Burlingame Lions Tournament, closing with a 53-43 win over WBAL foe Woodside Priory on Friday night.
The Knights (3-1) took an early lead then bolted ahead with a 24-12 second quarter. Lucas Vogel, a junior, posted 23 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Knights, and was named to the all-tournament team. Daniel Solomon, a senior, also had a double-double with 13 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Will Eggeneier, a junior, added six points and a blocked shot while Sam Reznick had four assists.
“We’re starting to find our formula: energy and intensity on defense plus selfless ball movement on offense,” Menlo coach Ben Batory said. “We put it all together in that first half, forcing Priory into turnovers, outrebounding their bigs, and kn”ocking down threes (8-15 on three-pointers in the first half). That second quarter was fun to watch and I am sure fun to play in…our best quarter yet as a team and one to build on!!”

Menlo 56, Aragon 44

12.9.2021– The Menlo boys’ basketball team defeated Aragon 56-44 in the second round of the Burlingame Lions Tournament on Thursday.
The Knights (2-1) took a six-point lead at halftime and held the Dons to four points in the final quarter.
Menlo junior Lucas Vogel poured in 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and made three steals. Daniel Solomon, a senior, scored 15, and had five rebounds, three assists and four steals. He and Vogel were a combined 12 of 15 from the free-throw line, and the team finished 15 of 19. Will Murphy, also a senior, pulled down seven rebounds and junior Will Eggemeier had five rebounds and three assists.
The Knights will play Woodside Priory at 5p on Friday 

Stuart Hall 59, Menlo 52

12.7.2021 – The Menlo boys’ basketball team dropped a 59-52 decision to Stuart Hall of San Francisco in the opening round of the Burlingame Lions Tournament on Tuesday.
Senior Daniel Solomon finished with a team-high 22 points while junior Lucas Vogel added 16.
Menlo (1-1) took a narrow lead early and the teams tied 21-21 at the half. Stuart Hall extended the lead to 12 points before Menlo went on a late blitz. Solomon sanlk a three-pointer to cut the lead to three with less than a minute left, but Stuart Hall (6-1) held on for the win.
Menlo will play Aragon, which lost 64-58 to Burlingame.
