Cassidy named Knights swim coach

Menlo School is pleased to announce longtime swimming and track coach, and former professional athlete, Simon Cassidy as swimming coach.

Cassidy has coached age group, masters swimming and triathletes, with coaching experience in the United States, Canada and Australia. He was most recently head track and field coach at Eastside College Prep, where he had been part of the coaching staff since 2015. He oversaw all aspects of the program, including coaching discus and shot put.

“We are really excited to have Simon join our coaching staff. Simon is very knowledgeable, and has a great rapport with student-athletes,” Menlo School Director of Athletics Earl Koberlein said. “We look forward to Simon leading our swim program and having a positive impact on our swimmers.”

As a professional triathlete and student-athlete, Cassidy represented Canada on the World Cup circuit, racing in 13 countries. He was a three-time, top 20 finisher at Olympic distance world championships. He holds a bachelors from the University of British Columbia and a master’s from Canada’s Ivey School of Business. He recently retired from a career in trading and investment management.
