Baseball splits series with Woodside

The Menlo baseball team dropped a rough 21-3 decision to visiting Woodside to spilt the series Thursday,

The Knights (3-3) next play Saturday at home against Aragon.

Menlo 5, Woodside 3

The Menlo baseball team opened its series against Woodside with strong pitching and firepower at the plate in a 5-3 PAL_Ocean victory on the road Tuesday.
Menlo (7-5-1 overall, 3-2 league) got a three-run homer from junior Jake Bianchi over the fence in left center in the fourth inning. Senior Chase Hurwitz, who was walked, and Carson Cleage, who singled, scored to give Menlo a 4-0 lead.
Ryan Schnell, a sophomore, threw six innings, allowing nine hits and three runs while walking one and striking out three, for the victory. Junior Trey McNair picked up the save, retiring the side in order.
Earlier Jacob Lee’s base hit drove in Bianchi, who reached on an error in the second. Cleage went 2 for 3 with a double.
Menlo returns to play Thursday when it hosts Woodside.
