Boys’ tennis wins 25th league title in a row

Menlo sophomore Evan Burnett and the Knights clinched at least a share of the league title

The Menlo boys’ tennis team landed its 25th consecutive league championship after recording three WBAL victories this week. 

It is the 32nd league championship in program history and extends a streak going back to 1997 (there was no season in 2020). The Knights (12-0 West Bay Athletic League, 19-1) wrap up the regular season Friday with a rivalry match against Menlo-Atherton. Postseason begins with the league individual tournament next week.

Menlo 7, Crystal Springs 0

4.21.2022 – Evan Burnett, Cooper Han, Mick Tamas and Soren Sutaria swept singles which dropped just two games in the four matches. Alex Volgin-Rishi Jain took No. 1 doubles, while Rohan Shah-Nik Khuntia, and Tudor Braicu-Nishan Rajavasireddy wrapped up doubles wins.

Menlo 4-5, Pinewood 1-0

4.19.2022 – The Knights and Panthers played a doubleheader with one singles and four doubles for two matches. 

Alex Volgin-Rishi Jain, Rohan Shah-Nik Khuntia; Tudor Braicu-Nikhil Agarwal each went 2-0, and Will Perez teamed with Max Saito and then Sam Engefor a fourth doubles win. 

Soren Sutaria won his singles match 8-5. 

Menlo 7, Harker 0

The Menlo boys’ tennis sailed to a 7-0 victory over visiting Harker in WBAL play Tuesday, and clinched at least a share of the WBAL title.
The Knights (9-0) defeated second-place Harker (9-3) with three games to go - a doubleheader with Pinewood tomorrow and a match against Crystal Springs. It is the 25th consecutive title for the boys’ program, dating to 1996 and excluding 2020 when there was no season due to the pandemic.
