WBAL singles & doubles champions for Menlo

Week of 4.25-4.30.2022

4.26.2022 – Menlo School sent five to the West Bay Athletic League Individual Tournament semifinals, and finished with the singles and doubles champions Tuesday at home.

In the singles championship, Menlo freshman Cooper Han defeated Harker’s Shika Tseitlin in the final 6-3, 6-2. Han had swept his Crystal Springs opponent in the semifinals, and swept all four matches, dropping only seven games.

In an all-Menlo doubles final, seniors Mick Tamas and Soren Sutaria defeated the duo of senior Rohan Shah and sophomore Evan Burnett in a hard-fought championship match 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. 

Menlo junior Tudor Braicu took third in singles, bouncing back after a tough 5-7, 7-5 (6) tiebreaker in the semifinals, then winning an extra third-place game in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. 

The senior doubles team of Alex Volgin and Rishi Jain went on to take third, sweeping their Harker opponents. 

 

Semifinals

4.25.2022 – In the WBAL Individual Tournament, two Knights singles players and three doubles teams will advance to the semifinals at Menlo.

Freshman Cooper Han ad sophomore Tudor Braicu go 2-0, advance to singles semifinals. Nik Khuntia and Sam Engel also competed in the singles tournament.

The duo of Mick Tamas-Soren Sutaria heads to the doubles semifinals while the duos of Alex Volgin-Rishi Jain and Evan Burnett-Rohan Shah will meet in the other all-Menlo semifinals Tuesday starting 11:45 am.
