5.14.2022 – Ten Menlo track and field athletes competed in the CCS Championships Semifinals in Gilroy on Saturday, and the Knights hit PRs in nearly every event, and finished with five qualifiers in seven events for the Finals.
Two Knights athletes double-qualified: Junior Justin Pretre was first in the 1600 in 4:14.33, and placed fourth in the 3200 in 9:32.76. Freshman Angelica Chou took sixth in the 200-meter dash in 25.60 and finished eighth in the 300 hurdles in 44.26.
Freshman Landon Pretre soared to first in the 3200 with a time of 9:28.23. Junior William Floyd tied for first in pole vault, clearing 12 feet, 6 inches.
Junior Aiden Deffner crossed the finish line in 1:58.18 for sixth and a bid to the Finals.
In other events, senior Vikram Seshadri was 12th in 110 hurdles in a school-record 15.56, topping his previous-best of 15.80 set a week before. He also ran the 300 in a PR 44.26. Junior Robby Enright cleared 5-6 in high jump and 19-4.5 in long jump. Senior Alli McKenney had a mark of 87-3 in discus. The 4x400 relay of the Pretre brothers, Floyd, Deffner finished in 3:45.41.
Qualifiers will return to Gilroy High School for the CCS Championship Finals on Saturday.
