Girls’ basketball (3-0) wins Mills KSG Shootout

Knights defeat Lincoln, Presentation and edges  host Mills

12.2.2022 – The Menlo girls’ basketball team got its season off to a fast start , peeling off two wins before holding on for a 54-46 victory over host Mills in the KSG Shootout on Friday.
The Knights (3-0) defeated Lincoln 71-46, Presentation 66-27 and Mills 54-46 en route to taking the tournament title. Sophomore Karen Xin was named the tournament MVP
Against Mills, the Knights held a 25-18 halftime lead before the Vikings came clawing back with a 19-11 third quarter. Mills took a 35-33 lead with seconds left in the third and led 37-36 at the end of the third.
Trailing 40-36 early in the fourth, Ruiqi Liu sank a three and Jordan Brooks followed with a three-point play to come within two.
Xin converted a big three as Menlo took a 45-44 lead with 4 minutes left. The Knights steadily added points with free throws while holding Mills on the other side.
Xin finished wit h 24 points, including five three pointers Ruiqi Liu, alos a sophomore, added 15.

Menlo 66, Presentation 27

12.1.2022 – Menlo girls’ basketball is headed to the championship game of the Mills KSG Shootout after a commanding 66-27 victory over Presentation on Thursday. The win was John Paye’s 400th as coach of Menlo girls’ basketball.
The Knights won both games to open the season and will play host Mills at 7:30pm on Friday.
Karen Xin led all scorers with 19 points, including four three-pointers. Ruiqi Liu, also a sophomore, had 14 points while senior Jordan Brooks and junior Summer Young each had 12 points.

Menlo 71, Lincoln 46

11.30.2022 – The Menlo girls’ basketball team jumped out of the blocks to win the opener of the Mills Tournament with a 71-46 victory over Lincoln on Wednesday.
Knights sophomore Karen Xin sank six three-pointers to finish with a game-high 22 points, and leading four in double figures scoring.
Summer Young posted 14 points, Jordan Brooks 13 points and Ruiqi Liu with 10,
Menlo next plays the El Camino-Presentation winner at 6p, Thursday.
