Girls’ basketball tops El Camino, falls to Sequoia

The Menlo girls’ basketball team jumped out to an early lead, but visiting Sequoia stepped up with a 19-point second quarter and never trailed en route to a 43-34 Ravens’ win Friday.
The Knights (6-2) held a 14-10 lead after the first quarter with juniors Karen Xin and Ruiqi Liu sinking two three-pointers apiece. But, Sequoia came roaring back with Aniyah Hall scoring 10 of her game-high 20 points.
Liu finished with 13 points, including four three-pointers, and five rebounds. Xin scored 12 and had four assists and three steals. Hannah Satuito made four steals and Summer Young grabbed five rebounds for Menlo, which plays Palo Alto in the Priory Winter Classic on Saturday. Hall added 13 rebounds for the Ravens (5-5).
