The Menlo girls’ basketball team suffered a pair of league losses this week, but in both, staged late rallies late game.

The Knights (8-6, 1-2 WBAL)  fell to Woodside Priory 54-46 on the road Friday afternoon. Menlo sophomore Ruiqi Liu finished with 16 points and junior Summer Young added eight.

Down 41-25 at the end of three quarters, Menlo climbed back to within five, but that was as close as the Knights could get before time expired.

Notre Dame-Belmont 55, Menlo 51

The Menlo girls’ basketball team engaged in a tug of war before Notre Dame-Belmont pulled off a 55-51 West Bay Athletic League victory Tuesday night.
On the road, the Knights tied the Tigers at halftime and took a 37-34 lead to end the third on Ruiqi Liu’s three-point play. After trading then losing the lead, Menlo fought back. Hannah Satuito dropped a three-pointer to pull within one and and the Knights went ahead 49-48 on Karen Xin’s layup with 1:30 left. Jordan Brooks pulled down two crucial rebounds for the Knights. Satuito makes another basket to give Menlo a 51-50 lead with 24 seconds left. The Tigers complete a three-point play then convert both free throws on a technical to close out the game.
Xin finished with 15 points, Liu with 11 and Riley Jensen with 10.
Menlo (8-5 overall, 1-1 WBAL) next plays at Woodside Priory on Friday.
