Girls’ soccer beats Sacred Heart Prep, NDB

Knights’ Chou, Corcoran deliver first-half goals against Prep; Chou hat trick vs, Notre Dane-Belmont

The Menlo girls’ soccer team knocked off host Sacred Heart Prep 2-1 Tuesday to remain atop the WBAL early season.
The Knights (3-0-0 league, 9-1-1) struck midway through the first half when sophomore Angelica Chou chipped in a shot after Krista Arreola craftily dribbled downfield, passed to senior Sasha Bernthal, who then deftly passed to Chou.
The Knights would double their lead when senior Tabitha Corcoran converted a free kick that flew into the corner of the net with 17 minutes left before halftime.
Ten minutes into the second half, the Gators scored on a free kick, but the Knights would hold on, fending off a free kick in the waning minutes for the victory.
