Boys’ soccer picks up 2 wins, tie

Knights sail past Pinewood, top Priory

The Menlo boys’ soccer team scored two minutes into the second half and held on for a 1-1 tie with Crystal in West Bay Athletic League play Friday.
The Knights move to 6-1-1 WBAL and 7-4-3 overall and hold on to second place as the second half of league play began. Menlo beat Crystal 3-2 in the first meeting.

Crystal led off the scoring with a goal in the 12th minute.

 

Menlo 6, Pinewood 0

1.25.23 –The Menlo boys’ soccer team defeated Pinewood 6-0 on Wednesday to improve to 6-1-0 in WBAL play.
Juniors Alessandro Velazquez finished with a pair of goals and an assist while Jacob Lee had a goal and two assists. Freshman Declan Sitter added a goal and an assist while senior Dylan Gold and sophomore Gabriel Gil each pitched in with a goal. Edwin Alvarez, a senior, posted an assist.
The Knights play host to Crystal at home Friday

 

Menlo 2, Priory 0

1.23.2023 –The Menlo boys’ soccer team defeated Woodside Priory 2-0 on the road in WBAL play Monday.
Locked in at halftime 0-0, the Knights got their first goal when junior Andre Gonzales Lombera netted a goalie deflection of Alessandro Velazquez’s free kick with 29 minutes left. Menlo would score again with 12 minutes left when Eric Schmidtke score on a pass from Lombera and Aidan Skinner.
Ben Bishop secured the clean sheet for Menlo, which improves to (6-4-2 overall, 5-1-0 WBAL).
