Girls’ soccer shuts out Priory, tops Harker

Knights move to 7-0-0 WBAL

Colby Wilson The Menlo girls’ soccer team held off host Harker in a 2-1 victory Thursday to improve to 7-0-0 in West Bay Athletic League play.
The Knights (14-1-1) have three games remaining, including a matchup Tuesday against second-place Sacred Heart Prep (4-1-1).
In San Jose, Menlo struck first when senior Colby Wilson sent a cross shot into the net on an assist from senior Sasha Bernthal in the 29th minute.
Ten minutes into the second half, Harker would score on a penalty kick, but Menlo countered when sophomore Angelica Chou landed a goal on a feed from sophomore Roza Rezaee with 17 .

Menlo 3, Priory 0

1.31.2023 – The Menlo girls’ soccer team beat Priory, and improved to 6-0-0, taking a five-point lead in the WBAL race with four games left.
The Knights (13-1-1 overall) led 1-0 halftime on Dorothy Zheng’s goal 16 minutes into the game.
Menlo added a pair of goals late in the second half to seal the win.
The Knights had a host of opportunities throughout the game, but landed their next goal with 6:55 left when Sasha Bernthal crossed amid a crowd and forced an own goal.
Menlo added another with 4:21 left in the game when sophomore Angelica Chou knocked one in high on an Audrey Hostetler pass.
