Girls’ basketball wraps up 3-0 week

Knights triumph in two close league games, beat Riordan
Ruiqi Liu tallied 34 points in two games for the Knights

The Menlo girls’ basketball team defeated Riordan 63-53 in a non-league match-up on the road Saturday. Ruiqi Liu, a sophomore, amassed 34 points on 11-of-19 shooting. Knights senior Jordan Brooks picked up 12 points, six rebounds, four steals, and sophomore Karen Xin finished with 11 points and six assists.On a three-game win streak, Menlo improves to 11-8 overall, and plays Woodside Priory on Tuesday. 

 

Menlo 47, Notre Dame-Belmont 40

The Menlo girls’ basketball team used a torrid fourth quarter to beat Notre Dame-Belmont 47-40 in a WBAL match-up at home Friday night.
The Knights (3-4 league, 10-8 overall) fell behind in the third before rallying back with a 24-13 fourth. Sophomore Ruiqi Liu poured in a game-high 18 points and senior Hannah Satuito drained three three-pointers in the fourth quarter to finish with 10 points. Senior Jordan Brooks also finished with three threes and 10 points, and sophomore Karen Xin added nine points. 

 

Menlo 46, Harker 41

The Menlo girls’ basketball team held off host Harker 46-41 in WBAL play Tuesday.
Sophomores Ruiqi Liu and Karen Xin each scored 16 points to pace the attack. Liu pulled down eight rebounds and junior Summer Young grabbed seven more. Jordan Brooks made three steals.
The Knights move to 2-4 in league and 9-8 overall.
