3.18.2023 – Menlo runners, throwers and jumpers competed in invitationals at the Dublin Distance Fiesta and the Garlic Classic, and came away with school records, PRs and medals Saturday.
In Dublin, Knights sophomore Landon Pretre took seventh in the 3,200-meter race in a school-record 9:07.06. He tops the previous best of 9:07.57 set in 2018 at the state track & field championships by Robert Miranda, now running for Yale. Will Hauser, also a sophomore, was 25th in 9:20.90.
Justin Pretre won silver in the 800 in a personal-best 1:53.68 and Aiden Deffner was 14th in 1:58.88 among 770 runners. Jared Saal was 65th in 2:04.58 while sophomore Joshua Benyo-Baker ran in 2:12.72 and freshman Asher Lev in 2:14.05.
William Floyd, a senior, cleared 13 feet to win the pole vault. James Yue, a freshman, finished eighth in the 3200 in 10:32.75
Freshman Devon Tussing-Adkinson set a pace for herself in her 800 debut, in a time of 5:27.68 for 66th among 620 runners.
In the throws, Ralston Raphael was seventh in shot put with a heave of 40 feet, 1 inch - a personal best. fellow senior Avery Romain was 10th with a 38-4.
In discus, senior Artin Saffarnia was 20th with a personal-best throw of 93-4 and finished with a 30-3 in shot put. Raphael posted a mark of 86-10 in discus and Romain 86-0.

In the 100-meter dash, juniors Derrick Ho ran in 12.50 seconds and Norberto Aguilar in 12.86
The Menlo track and field team opens the season Wednesday at a WBAL meet at Bellarmine
