Baseball defeats South S.F., ends week 2-1

Schnell gets victory in return
Menlo third baseman Garrett Tran singled and scored on a fielder's choice then turned a double play to help close out the seventh

The Menlo baseball team jumped out to a five-run third-inning lead and held on to beat visiting South San Francisco 8-2 in Saturday’s non-league matchup.
The Knights (9-6) got five strong innings from Ryan Schnell in his return. The junior allowed two hits, one unearned run while striking out four in five innings for the win.
Jake Bianchi went 3 for 4 with three RBI while junior Garrett Tran went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Junior Jake Sonsini added a pair of hits. Carson Cleage, Jake Sonsini, Sudar Kartheepan, Trey McNair drive in runs. Colin Dhaliwal had two steals.
Junior Jacob Lee came on in relief, allowing one earned run on two hits in two innings.

El Camino 10, Menlo 2

4.6.2023 – The Menlo baseball team split the Peninsula Athletic League-Ocean season series with El Camino after a 10-2 loss on the road Thursday.
The Knights move to 8-6 overall,2-4 league, and will play South San Francisco at home Saturday.

Menlo 6, El Camino 4

4.5.2023 – The Menlo baseball team defeated El Camino 6-4 in Peninsula Athletic League-Ocean play at home Tuesday.
The Knights (8-5 overall, 2-3 league) broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth on Luke Rogers’ bases-loaded walk then Garrett Tran, who had singled, scored an insurance run on a fielder’s choice.
Tran then turned a double play and the Knights closed out the seventh
Colin Dhaliwal, Jake Bianchi and Jacob Lee each had two hits. Bianchi picked up the win, allowing two runs on four hits in 2 1/3 innings.
