Baseball rolls to 9-0 win vs. Terra Nova, falls twice

The Menlo baseball team rallied in the fifth to retake the lead, but The King’s Academy won 11-8 in a non-league matchup at home Saturday.
For Menlo, senior Carson Cleage went 3 for 3 with a home run and RBI. Garrett Tran had two hitsincluding a double, and three RBI. Jake Bianchi posted two hits and a double. Menlo (12-9 overall) returns to play San Mateo on the road Tuesday.

4.25.2023 – The Menlo baseball team jumped out with eight runs in the first en route to a 9-0 victory over visiting Terra Nova in PAL-Ocean play Tuesday. In the rematch Thursday, Menlo lost 5-3.
Colin Dhaliwal picked up the complete-game victory, allowing five hits, a walk, and five strikeouts in seven innings, and helped his cause, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI
After a 1-2-3 half inning, the Menlo bats took over. Knights senior Jake Bianchi doubled to drive in starter Colin Dhaliwal who led off with a single, and Garrett Tran, who was hit by a pitch.
Junior Mikey McGrath walked with the bases loaded and the Knights took a 3-0 lead. Carson Cleage, who also was hit by a pitch, scored on a groundout before freshman Jack Freehill and Dhaliwal, in his second at-bat of the inning, delivered RBI hits. Freehil would later score on a groundout and Menlo took an 8-0 advantage.

With one out in the second inning, McGrath tripled then scored on Jacob Lee’s sac fly for a 9-0 lead.
Bianchi finished the day with a double and three RBI. McGrath went 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Lee drove in two more runs.
Menlo (12-7 overall, 4-5 league) plays at Terra Nova on Thursday.
