Swimmers land titles, CCS bids, PRs at WBAL finals

Boys take third, girls fourth

Menlo swimming brought home two league champions, more CCS qualifying times and scores of PRs in the finals of the West Bay Athletic League Championships on Saturday.

In the team competition at Sacred Heart Prep, Menlo’s boys placed third of nine teams and the girls’ team took fourth of 13 teams. Next up is the CCS Championships, which begin with trials on Friday, followed by Saturday’s finals at Hollister High.

The boys 200 medley relay of senior Andrew Tung, juniors Sam Warman, Connor Grant and Ben Kossow won a league championship, coming in at 1:43.55, easily making the CCS cut and beating its closest competitor by nearly three seconds. Grant swam the 50 butterfly split in 22.4.

Grant was the league champion in the 100 butterfly, winning by over 2 seconds in 51.83
