Jorge Chen named CCS Honor Coach
Menlo School’s track and field coach Jorge Chen has been named CCS Spring Honor Coach.
In his two decades at Menlo School, Chen is a model of dedication and respect in every sport he coaches. He also is the varsity head coach for cross country, an assistant coach for varsity girls’ soccer and coaches multiple sports in the Middle School.
Chen guided the boys’ track & field teams to WBAL titles in 2012, 2021 and 2022, and girls’ championships in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. The 2019 girls won the CCS title becoming the smallest school to win a section team title in track & field.
“Chen has also been a great leader for his students-athletes and has demanded that they treat their teammates, opponents, and sport with the utmost respect,” Crystal Springs Coach Albert Caruana said. “He is a strong proponent of Menlo School’s motto of “Team First”. Aside from all the above accolades, Coach Chen has also helped mentor many athletes from other teams in our section through his summer track and field team.
He is equally as pleased with the success of those athletes as he is with athletes from his own team. There is no question in my mind that Coach Chen has improved the quality of our section with his enthusiasm for the sport and so many student-athletes.”
