In a duel between unbeaten teams, Menlo School used an offensive outburst in the second period to beat host Capuchino i38-28 n a Peninsula Athletic League non-divisional game Friday night.

The Knights (4-0) will host Miramonte in next week’s non-league finale.

Menlo countered Capuchino’s early score with four unanswered scores, again using a balanced attack, over the first and second quarters.

Junior quarterback Jack Freehill completed 10 of 17 passes for 148 yards with two passing touchdowns - both to senior Jack Enright and two rushing scores. Junior Chuck Wynn fueled the run game, racking up 91 yards in 21 carries. Enright posted six receptions for 120 yards.

Freehill ran the ball in from the 1 after marching the Knights 58 yards in 11 plays. Dylan O’Malley converted his first of five PATs and a 34-yard field goal in the final quarter.

Menlo’s defense forced Capuchino to go 3 and out on ensuing possession and the Knights went to work. Senior Jack Enright hauled in a 23-yard pass from Freehill. Two minutes later, fellow senior Jamie Forese snares a pick-6 to give Menlo 21-7 advantage.

Freehill again found Enright, who then took the catch and run 55 yards for a score. The Mustangs ground out a rushing TD to end the third quarter but the Knights had already gained too much ground.

The Knights’ Chuck Wynn kept alive a Menlo drive with a fake punt, rushing for 7 yards on 4th and 4. Freehill would complete a 19-yard pass to Forese then Wynn had four more carried to get the ball to the 1 where Freehil would score to finish an 11-play, 74-yard drive for a 35-14 lead.
